Pack up those sippy cups and throw some jammies in a bag. The Poconos is around an hours drive from Philly and is packed with options for family fun any time of year. We headed up in early June for a taste of the outdoors. Here are a few options for a quick easy summer getaway in the Poconos.
Bushkill Falls: These amazing waterfalls were our first stop on our way to Lake Wallenpaupack. 4 trails provide options to see the 8 waterfalls that dot the landscape here. Heads up: the trails are constructed with a boardwalk (and steps in areas) that can be steep for the littlest ones. We had our 4 year old walking and our 22 month old in a hiking backpack. Also, the facility here also has a playground, paddle boats, a mining for gems experience, and there’s FOOD! Waterfalls are definitely the highlight here.
Pocono Treeventures: This ropes course is fun for the whole family. Kids can climb (and do their own mini zip line) starting at age 4.
Boathouse Restaurant: Classic American cuisine, forgiving servers who understand a meal with a 22 month old is darn near impossible, and corn hole games outside while you wait. This place gets two thumbs up. Oh and it’s situated steps from Lake Wallenpaupack.
We stayed at a very random VRBO that had Christmas decorations up and towels on the floor. Yikes. Find your abode for the night:
